Saddle the Smoke
A Poem
If I could saddle the smoke,
I’d ride my dreams to heaven
I’d need a tight grip
a top the bronco streams
of untamed wind
A steadfast heart to keep
compass against
earth’s violent poles
I’d praise the flames
that birthed the journey
but not forget the heat
Before the ember’s ash,
I’d pray my trail to leave
the smallest spark
